I love Project Runway, and Christian won and said he was taking a breaky-break right before Matt and I left for Sonoma. I also tried to play amateur photographer on the trip. These are some of my favorite, more “artsy” shots. I think some of them came out pretty well. Vote for your favorite!

The Knot January 21, 2008

Oh my gosh.  The Knot is an amazing and wonderful beast.   My jewelry site, Simple Bangles, was all over the local Philadelphia board today, which resulted in 252 hits to my site!  Unbelievable!  Then everyone started coming out of the woodwork with their “side businesses” and this new site was born by the end of the day, created by a lovely knottie veteran: Knotties Helping Knotties

This is a site basically for women planning their weddings in and around the Philadelphia area, but many of the resources can be used elsewhere.   I can vouch for all of the women who run these businesses–help them become successful!

Jewelry I want to keep for myself January 19, 2008

I think this is one of the first pieces of jewelry I’ve made that I have truly wanted to keep all to myself and try not to sell it. But I will try to sell it. Even though I want to wear it every day. It’s a very long necklace that can be doubled and tripled up or even worn as a bracelet. I won these really awesome mauve, oddly-shaped pearls off of ebay and I’m desperately trying to find more! I also have slowly started to really enjoy taking pictures of my jewelry, except I can really only do it on weekends when I have natural light. We have a really beautiful marble top on one of our radiators that I use for the background. In the summer I will have more opportunities for “photo shoots” and I can’t wait!

I’ve been playing around with Photoshop, which has got to be one of the coolest and most complicated programs ever, and I need you to critique something I did to a photo.  You may have seen this photo in a recent post about Temple Ambler:

I really liked the sculpture on top and wanted to make it into something funky and abstract so this is what I have come up with so far:

Are any of those the least bit interesting?  I don’t expect them to be good, or works of art, but I wanted to do something different with a photo I took.  Please post comments with ideas and criticisms.  Thanks!
