It Isn’t Always Sunny in Philadelphia May 30, 2009

Last night, when the Phils battled the Nats, it was threatening rain; we had some good beer after a horrible week at work; we finally tried The Schmitter; we sat in no man’s land; Kathy O read Casey; Matt got a new hat; we took some self portraits; the seats were wet; I snuck some photos of Matt; Julius came out to play; I discovered my Phashion sense; Matt tried to take a decent photo of me; and the night was nice, factories and all.

The end.

Memorial Day 2009 May 25, 2009

I was home this year! I usually go to the NAFSA conference but since Temple is putting the kibosh on travel, it was a relief to be home for the holiday. We BBQ-ed with my family, Matt’s family, and our neighbors.

Thanks, everyone, for bringing so much food (we won’t have to go grocery shopping for a month) and braving the sun!

I love my Tokyo Fashion. Here is my first love–cute peds from my mom. Please excuse my pasty white legs.

The Fashion Police do NOT like these. I want more. I think they are the best invention ever. But I’m allowed to think that because I am fashionably challenged 90% of the time.

Mine are much cuter than these Undefeated peds.

I would buy these from Tokyostyle.us.

Love the ankle wrap–don’t care. It’s cute.

Therapy Sessions Resume May 13, 2009

The gardening (aka my spring, summer, and fall therapy sessions) has started slowly this year. First it was cold. Then it was 90 degrees. Then it rained for 3946 days straight. In the past week we’ve had a chance to get started outside. Gardening is the one thing that calms me and at the same time gets me excited. I also don’t really care if I mess something up–it’s easily fixed and I just try something different the next year. My sanity thanks gardening.

Here are some shots of our new front yard. On Easter Sunday, Matt and I pulled out our dying bushes and these beds are finally ready to be beautiful:

And the back–mostly we will grow veggies and herbs with some flowers thrown in here and there. The veggie garden is not finished, obviously. We have some seedlings ready to go: tomatoes, peppers, peas, and soy beans:

Seedlings–we have a lot:

Day Staycation May 11, 2009

If you’re feeling the economic crunch this year and can’t get away on a real vacation from the Philadelphia area, try Terrain at Styers for a Day Staycation.

We went for Mother’s Day and I know that during the summer and fall, and even winter, when we need to relax for a day, this will be the place.

It has multiple greenhouses, gift shops, and a cafe that serves delicious food. Click here for my cafe review.

Enjoy the photos and visit Terrain at Stylers soon to relax and rejuvenate!

My mom brought me some amazing earring findings and charms from Tokyo and I put them all together today. I love these earrings! I’m definitely keeping these for myself but I am going to find similar findings to make more! Thanks, Mom!
