Matt made the most delicious french onion soup today and it took him about 3 hours to do it–he’s crazy! And we finally got to use the Le Creuset french onion crocks we received for a wedding gift. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know! It’s from Cook’s Illustrated magazine.
I get Cook’s Illustrated, thanks to you, and I love it!!! I will make the soup soon!
I like the way Cook’s Illustrated has pictures of all the recipes on the inside back cover that are in that issue. You don’t have to sort through the whole thing to see what’s in there when looking for a recipe!
Hi Mom–I’m glad you like the magazine! It’s so different from normal magazines–no ads, right? I like the way they rate different cooking utensils and items.
I get Cooks Illustrated too and I love it! Sometimes though, I must admit, their methods are not always the easiest…like they want you to slaughter the lamb and butcher it yourself because then it will be done “the best way”. But the recipes are always fantastic, if a bit time consuming. French onion soup is a favorite of ours– I think I am going to try to adapt the recipe to my crock pot so I don’t have to stand over the onions for hours while they sweat and carmelize.
So right, Adina! That’s why it took Matt 3 hours!
